On June, 29 th 2018, CIMSA got an invitation to attend a brainstorming session to discuss on how best Fire Risk System (FRS) can potentially be developed in future health outcomes, in Baranangsiang, Bogor Agricultural University-Institut Pertanian Bogor(IPB). This discussion also invited BNPB, Peta Bencana, UI, BMKG, CCROM SEAP-IPB, UN Enviroment, UNESCO and The State Ministry of Environment.
Fire Risk System (FRS) was built by The State Ministry of Environment and Forestry-Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) cooperates with Risk and Climate Centre Management, Bogor Agricultural University, also was supported by the United Nations Office for Project Services(UNOPS). The purpose of FRS is to serve the information about climate and fire based on decision making. Particularly, FRS was arranged based on high demand for trusted service to estimate the fire 1 until 6 months in advance, FRS also provides interactive map and ENSO, climate information, climate forecast, fire vulnerability and estimate of the fire risk.
We got a chance to share ideas, studies on haze impacts towards children, and recommendation on the subject. Fire Risk System can be the platform of CIMSA, specially CIMSA’s Humanitarian Response Team (CHRT) for the beginning estimate of forest fire disaster to therefore CHRT can be more responsive of the movement. It was such a remarkable discussion with UNOPS, BNPB, Peta Bencana, UI, BMKG, CCROM SEAP-IPB, UN Enviroment, UNESCO and The State Ministry of Environment. We do hope that this discussion could be the stepping stone on raising forest fire awareness.
