UNICEF – The Air We Breath Event

On July 31th 2018, CIMSA attended the Symposium Air Pollution Health Impacts and Solution for Child Protection which was held by UNICEF and The State Minister for Chairperson of National Development Planning Agency/Bappenas. This time, CIMSA was represented by Jannatiah (VPE CIMSA 2018-2019), Sherly (LO UNA 2018-109), Batara Bisuk (NORP CIMSA 2018-2019), Nita Tri (VNE SCORP 2018-2019), Sonia Fitriani (VNI SCORP 2018-2019), Rahmi Shofiana (PC SCORP 2018-2019), Fazra Mahalli (RC Region 3 2017-2018), and Wira Dwiputra (CHRT).

The symposium activities were the official opening ceremony by the government to establish stages related to development, panel forum with International speaker who present the current evidence about the air pollution to physical development and cognitive of the children and the cost of lack action of how to solve the land use. The moderator of the panel forum did question and answer section.  Also there were police markets of the government and people to discuss the perfect policy in air mitigation pollution and risk reduction of air pollution for children. After having lunch, there was group focus discussion (from the ministry’s representatives (K/L), development partner, academics and non-government organization to talk about the commitment, the planning and the potency of funding proposal.

Sherly and Bisuk got chance to be a speaker at the Talkshow about “Mitigating Air Pollution: What is The Success Rate at the City Level in Indonesia?”. The moderator of the talk show was Daniel Kass, MSPH, Senior Vice President, Enviromental Health for Vital Strategies (United States). The other speakers  from Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Space and Environment Stylish of Jakarta, International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), KPPB, and the Ex of Indonesian Coordinator which was funded by GIZ ‘Clean Air for Smaller Cities in the ASEAN Region’. CIMSA declared the interest about the issue of air pollution and the impact on childrens health. CIMSA conveyed  that a doctor student organization took a part to solve the air pollution specially the impact of children health by the projects in 23 CIMSA’s locals in Indonesia. CIMSA delivered about our post even action, in the celebration of Human Rights Day such as Training, Air Campaign, Ground Campaign, and collaboration with NMO Taiwan.

We hope through this event,  CIMSA can give the real impact of people health in Indonesia.
