GALAKSI TAB: CIMSA Peduli Gempa Cianjur

On Monday, 21 November 21, a big earthquake suddenly hit Cianjur–a town with roughly 175.000 people located in West Java, Indonesia. According to BMKG (Governmental Organization in Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics area), the earthquake’s magnitude reached 5,6 Richter scale with a 10-kilometer depth. This disastrous event destroyed over 56.548 houses, 540 schools, 272 places of worship, and more than twenty healthcare facilities. This earthquake forced more than 114.683 citizens to evacuate to a safer place. More than 7000 people were hurt and 600 people sadly lost their lives due to this disaster.

In response to the disaster, SCORP CIMSA organized GALAKSI TAB, a crowdfunding campaign aimed at providing aid to those affected by the event. The campaign was held from the 24th of November 24th until the 2nd of December on the Kitabisa.com platform. After the fundraising was completed, the funds were distributed in partnership with DMC Dompet Dhuafa. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved in the donation campaigns, GALAKSI TAB was able to raise a total of Rp7,019,338.00.

On the 5th of December, CIMSA Indonesia, represented by CIMSA Universitas Padjadjaran, in partnership with DMC Dompet Dhuafa, organized a social program in Pameumpeuk, Cianjur, an area that was heavily impacted by the earthquake. During the program, we conducted games and educational sessions for children as a form of psychological support. We played a variety of fun games with the children to help them get through the psychological trauma that may happen to them due to the earthquake. We sing, we play, and we interact in favor to raise up the spirit of those children.

After the sessions, we distributed 100 stationery kits to the children to support their education. Additionally, the contingency team from SCORP CIMSA Universitas Padjadjaran provided health checkups at the Disaster Relief Shelter.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to GALAKSI TAB to help ease the burden of the Cianjur earthquake. Your support means a great deal to those who are affected. We hope to come together again under better circumstances in the near future.
